Have you ever tried adding an image to a Word or Google doc and found yourself absolutely tortured, trying to put it where you want it on the page? How about having text and images side by side? In Word/Docs it is extraordinarily difficult to design good looking paper handouts. Here is a great solution, shared by Mark Garrison.
In Google Slides, create a Blank Presentation. You will see a new slideshow with one blank slide. We are going to work with that first slide as our paper document, by changing the size of the slide to 8.5 x 11 inches.
In the File menu, select Page Setup, then choose Custom, and key in 8.5. and 11 inches into the fields, and voila, a beautiful, blank 8.5×11″ canvas for you to design to your heart’s delight. Adding images, shapes, backgrounds, using the whole page, putting the text exactly where you want it—all of these things just became a million times easier. Slides certainly doesn’t contain all of the word processing features of MS Word or Docs, but we’re not writing a term paper, here, we’re designing good looking handouts!
