Project-Based Learning has been growing in use and popularity in District 287 over the past couple of years. We now have a number of teachers who are comfortable and adept at having students learn via PBL. These teachers have also developed expertise at building and designing PBL units. To help teachers new to Project-Based Learning try out PBL with their students, a dozen District 287 teachers will be creating PBL units this June.
These standard-aligned units will cover a range of subject areas. All units will use open-source and free materials, with the goal that any teacher in the District can pick up a unit, understand it, and begin using it with students quickly and easily.
Created units will be published under a Creative Commons License, available to all. The content will be posted to our Minnesota Partnership for Collaborative Curriculum site in July and August.
